Physical reminders of God's Word in my life

Image
Yesterday I was cleaning out my bedside table drawers and found one of my notebooks I'd crafted years ago. I'd personalized it to make it my own prayer journal/diary/reminder. That was in the year 2009. As I flipped through the pages, I was reminded of what I did and experienced. You see, I was going through different things in my life such as health problems etc. They were causing me anxiety, stress and worry. I began to realize that they were making me take my eyes off God and focus more on my problems. I'd made that special book to help me keep my eyes on Him instead and not on my situations. Here is how I specialized the journal: * I got me cheap notebook. I paid $0.25 for it on clearance at a certain superstore, but you usually can get it at any dollar store. * I took some scrapbook paper and covered it to hide the ugly cover. *I then punched out some card stock tags and decorated the front. I wrote one of my special scripture on it. *Using the book as a sort of d

Be imperfectly perfect

Photography is one of my passions. I love taking out pictures of anything and everything- whatever catches my fancy. I look around me wherever I go and start taking mental photos if I do not have my camera in hand. Today, as I got home from running errands, I noticed how my rose bushes were starting to bloom. There were new buds popping up everywhere. They were all in different stages of maturity. Perfection is the word that came to my mind. I went upstairs and grabbed my camera and hurried outside to get some shots. As I neared closer to the roses, I noticed that a few of them were not perfect. Some had darkened areas, some had tiny holes in them while others did not have perfectly formed petals. I still pressed the shutter button. I wanted to capture them all. I loved how the blooms look as a whole. I admire each one. Though some of the "perfectly" formed roses looked fantastic, the other roses still bloomed where they were. They made part of the picture as well. They

Life is a beautiful ride

Today, my hubby took some time off his busy schedule so we can have some well-deserved quality time together with our little one. It was a fun half day for us. I thank God for it. First, we got breakfast at Mc Donald's and then headed off to Chattanooga. My first stop was at Michael's-my favorite craft store! I got a few good deals. It was fun seeing my daughter oohing as she happily chatted with hubby. After that, I went to Home Goods while they went to Petland. I found me a gorgeous coffee mug on clearance for only $2.00! There were a few different mugs, but this one got me from the very first moment I saw it. You see, I love old bikes and there was a wonderful graphic of a bike on the mug. I was thrilled! Afterwards, we went to the mall where we got some Chinese noodles and sesame chicken before heading home- not before our daughter got a waffle cone with cookies and cream ice-cream from Baskin Robbins. All this may seem something trivial to some but to us, the time we spen

Having the right attitude

It is the first day of April and the weather is much prettier than yesterday. I am very thankful that though we were under a tornado watch in our area, we were spared of heavy rains and damaging winds. God is so good to us each day! Life is not perfect but we can make life easier with our attitudes. Having the right attitude helps to develop our way of thinking and acting. For the past month, I had been going through various health obstacles which were getting me down. I prayed constantly about it and God spoke to my heart that I just need to stop thinking about my problems and give it all to Him. I was wasting the precious hours away. Life is too short for regrets. Let's take on each day with a smile on our faces and come what may, we can have the right attitude to help us -along with His Guidance- of course. Have a blessed day!
