There is a reason for your detours in life. Sometimes things happen in our lives to slow us down or guide us in a certain direction. Maybe the Lord has a detour for us to see something we may not have otherwise seen. Think of it like you are on a journey to somewhere. You are anxious to get to your destination and then the road that you are familiar with, is under construction. There is a huge detour. Along that detour route, you notice a beautiful view or come across something that you wouldn't have had if you were traveling on your familiar route. My chronic pains are getting the better of me. Yesterday morning I was able to get out of bed almost eleven o' clock. It can be very frustrating. There is so much stuff to do. My weekly schedule is full with chores, errands, my daughter's volleyball practices and games, appointments to make and keep, bills to remember to pay and so on. Things happen in our world. Good things. Bad things. That's life. We all know that. God has not promised us a pain free or stress free life but He does promise us that He will be with us and never leave us. Sometimes that is hard to remember, especially when you feel as if everything around you is crumbling. Like a broken mirror or glass. Have you ever seen the ripples after it got smashed by some force? The cracks appear at first and then sooner or later, the pieces start shattering. Something like the photo below. Sometimes, we feel that way don't we? Things happen beyond our control. Our steady lives suddenly isn't so steady anymore. It may be bad news from the doctor or a loss of job or an accident or worse. Something that happens in an instant to dramatically change your life. You see these things happen everyday on the news. Yesterday I was cleaning out my bedside table drawers and found one of my notebooks I'd crafted years ago. I'd personalized it to make it my own prayer journal/diary/reminder. That was in the year 2009. As I flipped through the pages, I was reminded of what I did and experienced. You see, I was going through different things in my life such as health problems etc. They were causing me anxiety, stress and worry. I began to realize that they were making me take my eyes off God and focus more on my problems. I'd made that special book to help me keep my eyes on Him instead and not on my situations. Here is how I specialized the journal: * I got me cheap notebook. I paid $0.25 for it on clearance at a certain superstore, but you usually can get it at any dollar store. * I took some scrapbook paper and covered it to hide the ugly cover. *I then punched out some card stock tags and decorated the front. Almost two weeks have passed in this new year. With it, I have noticed that the challenges for me have already started. Isn't it amazing how the cares of this world can get to us? If you go on the internet or put on the television or listen to the radio, there is always something happening that stuns us, aggravates us, grieves us, disgusts us and so on. Nearly all the news you hear is bad news. It can wear you down whether you notice it or not. The good news is that no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, we have someone to depend on (that is if you are one who trust in God or even believe in God). We have someone who loves us despite who we are or what we've done.   I had a couple of giveaways last month and a couple new members who joined my Facebook page have had recent losses of loved ones. Good morning! It's another rainy day today. The trees are already starting to shed their leaves. I love looking at the wonderful colors Fall brings. Down here at the south, we hardly get severe cold weather and when we do, it is hard for us unlike those who live up north. I love the Fall.  I believe that God looks out for us all the time even though we may not realize it. The night before last we had some steady rain with the winds whipping all throughout the night. By the time it was morning, the road where we live was a sea of leaves. After waking up my daughter to get ready for school, the time did not go the way it usually does. Somehow or the other, we were fifteen minutes behind the usual. I was a bit perplexed because it seemed as we lost some time. Did I get up from bed later or idled away the time? No. We had to rush a bit for her to finish getting ready. I brushed aside the lapse in time, thinking maybe somehow we were not paying too much attention. When we got to ...

Summer has gone and Fall is here.. Though soon the leaves are going to start falling, we still see the beauty and magnificence of our Lord! I cannot seem to get enough of the beauty around us. Each little creature that flutters by or each color that pops up, I am reminded of His power, His love-our wonderful Creator. Have a blessed first day of Fall!

For the past few weeks, I have been dealing with some painful physical problems. I've felt overwhelmed and frustrated at times because I was being limited more and more by what I couldn't do. The list of housework, errands, keeping up with getting bills paid on time, getting my daughter's birthday party planned and not being able to write were all getting to me.  There were times when I just had to stay in bed a lot due to being in pain but the Lord gave me the strength that I need. I know that He is always there for me. I have to keep reminding myself to give my burdens to Him and not try to bear it all alone. He has never failed me. I am so thankful that I have a Savior who can lift me when my spirit feels broken.  As I was returning home from dropping my daughter off to school yesterday morning, I saw this beautiful sunrise and I just had to say "Wow!"
